Five Family Fun Backyard Ideas

The kids have been out of school for a few weeks now. You and they are probably getting restless. While reading online, we found some really cool ideas that you could add to your backyard (or just have fun dreaming about with the kids). Here’s a few of the best ideas.

Tumble Run Way
This long trampoline run way is a great place for the kids to get all of their energy out and for parents to get some exercise (or a good laugh watching all the fun!)

Floating Bean Bags
What could be better than floating around on a giant bean bag on a nice hot day? Relaxing in the pool is just what your family needs this summer. You can get these on various websites, but we saw them most recently on Frontgate.

This toy will keep the kids busy all summer and fall long. If you backyard is full of mature trees, this will be simple to set up and lots of fun.

It’s difficult to get kids out of the house these days. With all of their computer games, devices and TV shows, playing outside as become a chore for many kids. We hope some of the things we have share will give you some ideas to get your kids and family enjoying the backyard and garden, more often.

Ideas for this post came from Buzzfeed and HGTV.

Open House June 11 & 12 Details

We are very excited that our first big event of the season is just a few days away! We are busy stocking the gardens, preparing for the kids and getting everything set up throughout the Garden Center. We have lots of things planned for the whole family so we hope to see all of our blog fans, regular customers and many new faces this weekend. We know everyone wants the scope so here it is!

The Details

Edward's Garden Center Open House 2016Where: 525 River Street Forty Fort, 18704 (go all the way to the end of the road)

When: Saturday & Sunday, June 11 & 12, from 10 am to 4pm

What’s happening: Both days there will plenty to do and to see! We have Face Painting by Jessica making her return to paint beautiful masterpieces on the kids’ hands and faces. Jessica’s stand is always a favorite for the kids so we keep bringing her back for the fun year after year. Also back by popular demand: pony rides! Pony Party Paradise will be back with their lovely ponies and the petting zoo.

Blue Chip Animal Rescue will be bringing a few of their pets who need to find “furever” homes. Visit with a few pets all day Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds from this event help support Blue Chip and they will also be selling raffle tickets.

On Sunday, we will have live music provided by 3 Imaginary Boys from 12pm until 2pm.

You can’t have a special event, without good food right? Not to worry, we will have several food vendors ready to provide you with tasty treats.

We also can’t forget to mention the reasons people visit Edward’s Garden Center every day. Kids love our scavenger hunt to find all of our animals. Kids love it because they get to meet all the animals and at the end of the scavenger hunt they get a prize bag.

Our quality plants, trees and flowers also draw people from all over the Wyoming Valley. We are well stocked and the staff is excited to help you with all your questions. And don’t forget to stop into the gift shop to pick up some unique items.

Parking and admission for the Open House are free!

Rain or shine we hope to see you there! We promise you will see why Edward’s Garden Center is truly “A Place to Explore and Enjoy!”
