A big thank you and looking forward

As many of you know, the Garden Center is now closed for the winter season. Our employees will take a much deserved rest, before revving up for the busy spring months of 2015.

Edward's Garden Center Staff Thank everyone for their patronage. This past year was quite a successful one for the Garden Center. We enjoyed seeing everyone at our five events throughout the year and hope that everyone had a great time.

Owner Ed Kopec, especially wanted to thank everyone for their patronage this year. He and all of his staff wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy and fruitful New Year!

Ed also wanted to clue everyone in on a few things that will be happening next year.

First of all, mark your calendars for June 6th and 7th for our spring Open House! Every year, our events get bigger and better. We will have vendors, sales, and fun for the kids. You won’t want to miss out!

We will also have some beautiful changes occurring at the Garden Center before we open for the spring. Maybe a few of you have noticed the giant water feature that we are constructing in the front of our building facing the highway. This one, while probably the biggest, will not be the only new water feature. We are also planning to expand our annual green house space for the upcoming season. And of course, we would not want to leave our animals out of all the fun. Our iguanas and tortoises will also be receiving a new winter habitat for next winter.

Lastly, look for our new website coming this spring to a computer and smart phone near you!

While the Garden Center will be closed until March 1, 2015, the blog and the Facebook will still be up and running. Check back for updates on all the changes!

7 gifts for the gardener on your holiday list

Many of you probably have a gardener or two on your shopping list. With just one week left until Christmas, we have some ideas that may just save you! If you are the gardener, yourself, you may want to text this link to a spouse, parent, or child so they can get the hint 😉

1. New set of tools – Every artist needs a solid set of tools right? Well as gardeners know, tools wear out. Imagine how frustrating it would be to be in the middle of planting a vegetable garden and your shovel breaks. Gardening tools are always a good gift idea.

Edward's Garden Center has whatever gift your need for the gardener in your life

Matching planters are a great gift for any gardener!

2. Sets of matching planters – Just like an artist needs a canvas, a gardener needs planters. Finding sets that are on budget when you need them is not the easiest task. At this time of year, many places have them marked down so you should be able to find a good deal. This is a gift that can be used over and over again.

3. A potting bench – Many gardeners spend time potting seeds and translating annuals. Though they enjoy it, the work can be very hard on their back and knees. Having a separate area to keep the mess, where they don’t have to bend down would give them a nice break.

4. Raised garden bed  – You can purchase a kit or build one of your own (directions can be found on our Pinterest page). For a gardener with limited space or problem soil, you can’t beat a raised bed. It has better soil, better drainage, warms up quicker in the spring and lasts longer in the fall.

Edward's Garden Center has bird houses

The bird room at Edward’s Garden Center has hand carved birdhouses.

5. Bird houses – A bird house is a great idea for anyone that loves being in their yard. Another gift that just keeps giving, your giftee will be able to attract birds for many years. If you have questions about which kind to buy, stop by our Garden Center and visit our bird room.

6. A helpful set of hands – For someone on a budget, this is a fabulous gift for the gardener in your life. Create a coupon for one day of free labor in the garden. A gardener with big dreams can always use a few helping hands.

7. A gift certificate to your favorite Garden Center! (hint hint) – This is one gift that will make your loved one really look forward to spring. Stop by the Garden Center before Dec 23. to get your gift certificate in any denomination!

Holiday Celebration at the Garden Center this Saturday!

Join us for a Holiday Celebration, this Saturday (Dec. 6) at Edward’s Garden Center!

Edward's Garden Center Holiday Celebration - Dec 6 2014 - Edward's Garden Center

To get you and the whole family into the holiday spirit, we have many events planned and special guests stopping by. The celebration starts at 9 a.m. and runs through 6 p.m.

Santa and two of his reindeer will be here to visit with all the kids and make sure each and everyone of them is on his nice list 😉 Kids and pets can also have their photo taken with Santa.

Entertainment will be provided by, the always popular, Dani-Elle. For those of you who haven’t been to one of the Garden Center events recently, this is Dani-Elle Kleha‘s fourth appearance.  She is a nationally known singer, from Jermyn Pa., who has two albums that she made in Nashville.  Anyone who attended our Christmas party last year or either of our Open House events this year, knows what a wonderfully entertaining young woman she is and can tell you, you don’t want to miss her performance.

Edward’s Garden Center, and owner Ed Kopec, are enthusiastic supporters of Blue Chip Animal Farms Animal Rescue. To help raise some funds for Blue Chip, Ed suggested an ornament contest. Everyone is invited to make an ornament for the Christmas tree. Anyone who brings an ornament will have the chance to win a $100 gift card to the Garden Center. The gift card will go to the creator of the best pet ornament, according to our staff.

Several food vendors will be ready to serve some delicious treats. Mrs. Fritz will be back with her homemade treats and hot soup will be available.

The highlight of the evening will happen at 5 p.m. when Nick and Tobey Kelly light the Christmas tree, in honor of all the pets in our area who have been adopted from Blue Chip.

This is a holiday party you don’t want to miss (and one that doesn’t require an ugly Christmas sweater lol)! If you need any ideas for creating your pet ornament, visit our Pinterest page.

Hope to see everyone at the Celebration on Saturday!
